Although I had read Twilight (at my daughter's request) and liked it, I didn't really intend to read more of the books until I read New Moon. Actually, at this time there was only New Moon as Eclipse hadn't been released. Anyway, I reached Chapter 3 "The End" and was very surprised at the turn it took. Bella's devastation is palpable here. This is the kind of thing at which Stephenie Meyer excels. In my opinion, all of the books are uneven, but the emotional core of her characters usually rings true. Also, this is what I admire most and seek out in books so I kept reading.

This is when I have to reiterate - I have never read New Moon. And I will when we get to it in chapter by chapter. I guess I haven't ever seen Bella depressed and such, and I'm kind of excited to actually read that.
Unless she's gets too angsty - too much depression from a character tends to really put me off.

This is controversial. Some people really hated this book (mostly because Jacob is a big part of it). I won't give anything else away except to say that I felt it.
I really don't think Bella's angsty - or even whiny as many have complained.
